Publish your Book
You’d think that publishing would have become easier over the last few years because of all the new technology available. And it has. It’s become so easy that anyone with a reasonable grasp of computer software can do it cheaply and quickly.
But . . .
The reality is that publishing has become harder. That’s because the hard bit of publishing is not producing the book, whether it’s paper-printed or electronically printed. The hard bit of publishing is selling.
Selling books has become much harder because there are so many published that there’s not enough literate people in the world to read them.
But, we’ve got to try.
So:
Opening Chapter is a publisher of print and electronic books. When we started making books five years ago Print On Demand (POD) was a relatively new technology, so we paid a printer to print thousands of copies in the hope that we could sell them all and make a tidy profit. We have sold a few hundred of each of these books but still have a pile of boxes containing unsold copies.
Now we publish Print On Demand and ebooks.
Fortunately this means we can now publish more books.
Selling the books is still hard but avoiding a financial loss is easier.
If you truly believe that your book is worth publishing let us know and we’ll have a look at it. To be honest it’s unlikely we will publish it ourselves, but we might. Every publisher is looking for the book that will sell in the tens of thousands and make a lot of money.
If, despite not finding a publisher for your book, you decide to brave self-publishing then we might be able to help you. We can advise on any aspect of self-publishing. Of course you will have to pay for our time and for any resources we use. How much you pay will depend on how much you want us to do.
